No need to re-enter the data and all the inherent risks of error, no need to have teams of qualified CG operators to manually enter this data hour after hour. In addition, Nexus can provide teletext output from the same data, subtitling and custom metadata for triggering/updating third party red-butting interactive services. Imagine, providing the chance for your customers to choose from a selection, which item they wish to be shown next. The votes (and revenue) are processed by Cobalt, and the on-screen presentation is automatically updated based upon the result. Stock and sales prices are already known to Cobalt, as it’s taking this data directly from your main billing/sales/accounts system.

Despite the almost unparalleled suitability for main shopping channels, we are increasing finding that it is with secondary interactive channels where Nexus has gained most popularity. In these applications, specialist versions of the main channel are show, where for example at QVC, we encode/record only items being played out which are related to a specific genre (jewellery, health, clothes etc) during the course of the day. This can be triggered either by known codes in the data, manually (via gpi or GUI) or via schedule data. These clips are then either automatically placed into a rules based schedule within Cobalt or can be manually scheduled (again into the Cobalt

schedule interface) and played out at some time in the future as a new show. Obviously, the main advantage being that we can overlay the original graphics/information with current information, automatically dropping any items from the schedule where stock runs out.
So whether you are looking to update/start your shopping channel or create dynamic +1Hr or interactive channels, Nexus/Cobalt Ha proved itself to be the perfect partner for dynamic, up-to-date, automated shopping channels, adding flare to design, whilst significantly improving workflow and reducing labour costs.
